In this micro blog, we highlight how rigid standards relate to fear of imperfection.
For some high achievers, the phrase “good enough” evokes discomfort.
It may feel like:
Settling
Losing edge
Slipping standards
Inviting failure
But this reaction often reveals an anxious, rigid rule system:
“If I relax standards, everything collapses.”
That belief deserves examination.
Because sustainable performance requires flexibility.

Rigid perfectionism can lead to:
Chronic dissatisfaction
Exhaustion
Relational tension
Creativity blocks
Therapy explores:
Where these standards originated
What they protect against
Whether they still serve you
How to maintain excellence without rigidity
Often, “good enough” does not lower performance.
It increases efficiency. And this mitigates against burnout.
And paradoxically, creativity often returns when threat decreases.
